Microsoft confuses the audience with Gamescom announcement

Xbox manager Larry Hryb alias Major Nelson caused a lot of confusion and hasty anticipation today with a new blog entry: Hryb had exuberantly announced “new hardware” for Gamescom, but later corrected his wording again.

Anyone who was eagerly awaiting the new article in Major Nelson’s blog at Gamescom 2018 about Microsoft’s innovations should now be disappointed.

First, it was announced that Microsoft would bring “brand new Xbox hardware and accessories” to this year’s Gamescom.

This, of course, heated people’s minds. Correspondingly positive and enthusiastic was the feedback of the fans on the contribution – that Microsoft also mentioned new hardware just as a side effect, but was then nevertheless too unusual.

Announcement has been specified once again

This announcement was not meant as a teaser for a revised Xbox, as you might think. Therefore, the Xbox manager has revised his statements once again (via Neowin). “This post was edited to clarify the hardware news”, you can now read in the Gamescom announcement.

The blog now says that Microsoft will present some new bundles, matching accessories and the next new game titles. The presentation of the expected new Xbox Elite controllers, which rumour has it that they are now equipped with a USB C port, remains open.

Inside Xbox on August 21

If you want to be part of the announcement, you don’t have to go to Gamescom. Microsoft will stream the live event with the “Inside Xbox” format on 21 August from 7.30 p.m. German time. The show will be available on, Mixer, Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. We will then also report on the event and present the new products.

Gamescom 2018 will take place from 21 to 25 August in Cologne and will be open to the public from 22 August.

This was my first post 🙂 I try to do good work.
